We’ve done a lot of journaling and meditating, and we’ve raised $100 toward our $350 goal on GoFundMe to achieve our participation in the “Try an Extreme Sport” resolution.

We have had some good conversations in our Question of the Day feature on Facebook, both fun and silly and meaningful, though we’d like to see more of you venture out of your shells!  The numbers show you’re reading, and you’re reading regularly and in large quantities, particularly for such a new blog, so don’t be shy!  We’d like to see a lot more of you and what you’re doing and how you’re doing and what you’re thinking and feeling!  The first month has been a lot of work on all fronts though, so I totally get it if you’ve been participating but have been too busy to talk, I can relate 😉

On that note, I have been too busy to keep up my end of the promise to do everything I asked you to do.  I’ve done what I can when I can, BUT when we started this project the intention was to write a week ahead of time and have things ready to be done, fleshed out, and ready to post the day before so we could hit post at midnight every night and have it ready for the following day.  Our internet provider had a big problem in our area and we couldn’t access anything for at least a month AND our IT guy got called out of country on short notice, so the whole website was built with a throttled data plan from my cellphone and that took a LOT longer than anticipated, so there was NO writing in advance and a lot of rushed research and rushed writing and not being able to do tasks AND write about them, so the writing had to come first.  Obviously, that included the pitfalls of being affected by the mood of the day and medical appointments and illness and all sorts of fun things to cram into one month.  I also could NOT figure out when to sleep that accommodated posting by midnight and doctor’s appointments both, without having written in advance, because that much analytical brain takes a while for me to unwind from.  But I think these are things that can be ironed out for the new month.

While we will be moving forward into the next month worth of topics, they will be way less intensive research-wise on my part than 31 days’ worth of New Year’s resolutions that I didn’t necessarily know anything about and had to do a lot of fact checking.  What that means is that in addition to writing the new daily topics I’ll also be recommitting to performing the tasks I asked all of you to do, and even if you did them the first time, I totally think you should continue doing them, because they’re healthy no matter how often you do them. If, like me, you didn’t make it happen the first month, make it happen now. We’ll have that Things You’ll Need tab updated so you know what you need, you’ve been here for a month (theoretically) so you know what to expect, so let’s all make it happen. If you’re up for it share your pictures, share your stories, let us know what’s working for you.  Our Gallery is only member submitted photos, none from the writer, so let’s give those pictures some company!

We’ve had some difficulty ironing out the feature for what you might need in advance if you want to pick up things in time to do them the day they’re assigned, but we’ve officially settled on a calendar over a newsletter and our “Things You’ll Need” Tab is being worked on all night tonight so hopefully by the time you’re reading this it will have been officially updated to be both current and ahead of where we are now, so that  it can now be a useful feature if you want to go to the grocery store or library or wherever before the day of so you can do things when we do, though we definitely don’t mind if you’re running behind where we are and choose to make comments or share pictures when you actually get to the day that a post was made on, it doesn’t have to be in sync, not everyone found us at the same time, which is one more reason why we think it’s a good idea to run through those daily tasks for at least one more month.  That and that some days our posts came SO late in the day, which we’re going to try to put an end to.  After February then we’ll be looking to you for feedback on if you still want them or not.

If you’re an early riser and beat us to the punch on getting the calendar updated then what you’ll need for today is a large pot (like a stock pot), 2 tablespoons butter, 2 medium white potatoes, 3 cups of either beef, chicken, or vegetable stock, 6 leeks, salt, pepper, 1/2 cup heavy cream, parsley, and soup bowls. (If you’re vegan, substitute pureed tofu for the heavy cream, ratios are equal.  The butter can be replaced with a cooking oil.)

So, that’s our recap of month 1 and intro to month 2.  Expect a different format, things will be mixing up.  While I’ll be doing the daily tasks and hoping you join me, they’ll be included as itemized lists, not detailed instructions and reasoning.  As for posts, sometimes we’ll be task focused, sometimes we’ll be fact focused, sometimes we’ll be experience focused, sometimes we’ll be opinion focused. We strive to always make them educated opinions, but I’ve proven my flaws and I’m sure we’ll be doing a lot of learning together.  I will say in advance that the things on the list come from a multitude of different lists of things I either want to do, or want to learn about, or think I SHOULD do or learn about, and the order is very random, so if we come up on two similar topics two days in a row, don’t think that means that’s the focus our blog will be taking, we’re going to rock the variety.  We warned y’all upfront that we’re going to have fun, we’re going to be silly, we’re going to do amazing things, but in with all of that we’re also going to learn about different lifestyles, different cultures, different religions, different worlds, different people, different places, and some of that you might really like, some of it you might really not, either way it’s something we’re all going to come out better people for being able to understand different perspectives a little bit better than before.  We’re gonna jump right into that today.  But that’s going to be coming in a second post a little later on 😉

A word about music:  We include songs for a reason.  Music helps us deal with the world, helps to soothe the soul, and gives us something else we can focus on when everything is too much.  Listen to the songs we post. Even if you already know them. Listen to them like you don’t. Pay attention to the lyrics. Pay attention to what the instruments are telling you. They all have a message, they all have a purpose, they’re all chosen for a reason.  If you like the song, please support the artist by purchasing the MP3 or Album that features it.

  1. We have a slight wrench in the works, in that I forgot I had an appointment with the dental surgeon early in the morning, so the calendar will NOT be up to date as promised as sleep needs to come first, but it will be priority one once I get home.
